What is the dress code for campers?
Boys are required to wear their kipa or a baseball cap at all times.
For safety reasons, it is mandatory and extremely important for all campers to wear their camp T-shirts on all trip days. It helps us be instantly recognizable to each other and distinguish our campers and staff from other visitors. Each camper will receive one free camp T-shirt at the beginning of camp.
Additional camp T-shirts are available for $10 each.
How does my camper find a lost item?
Please mark all belongings with your camper's name in permanent ink or with labels. This is very important since individual items are difficult to identify without a label. Lost & Found items are available each day in the coat room. Please contact us in writing or by phone regarding specific items.
How does the transportation system work?
Camp Mazal uses a modern fleet of buses from a local school bus company. Campers must remain seated at all times. Staff is always on board to ensure safety.
How do I arrange to pick up my camper during the camp day?
If you have to pick up your camper during the day, please notify our office. Once we are aware of your arrival time, we can arrange to have your camper ready for you. Please note that no camper will be released to ANYONE without parental permission.
When can I visit my camper?
We suggest that you schedule your visit carefully with the camp director as your camper may be involved in a field trip or other off-campus activity. All visitors must first go to the camp office for visitor registration and assistance.
What if my child does not want to participate in a particular activity?
No camper will be forced to participate in any activity. However, we do urge campers to try all activities and take advantage of the complete program offered at Camp Mazal.
How religious is Camp Mazal?
Camp Mazal is a totally non-judgemental environment made up of campers from all Jewish backgrounds. An individual's level of observance is not stressed. All children enjoy a shared Jewish spirit through songs and projects.
Can my camper bring a precious item to camp?
Camp cannot take responsibility for personal property brought to camp. Therefore, please do not send with your camper jewelry, iPods, cell phones, digital cameras, or any other expensive item to camp. Camp Mazal supplies everything campers may need during the day.
What does my camper need to bring each day?
Campers need a bathing suit, towel and bathing cap in a swim or plastic bag each non-trip day, regardless of the weather. Your child should have sunscreen applied every morning before camp and come to camp with a hat. We supply all sports and and craft equipment such as tennis rackets, baseball mitts, etc.
For the children not registered for the Camp Mazal Snack & Lunch Program, please provide your child with a kosher, clearly labeled lunch with food that will remain fresh at room temperature. It is advisable to send extra drinks for trip days or for very hot days.
Please have all hats, camp T-shirts, schoolbags, lunches, swim gear, etc... clearly labeled with the child's name, marked in permanent ink or with labels.
How often does my child drink water at camp each day?
Camp Mazal provides all children with plenty of water to drink throughout the day on camp premises and are instructed to drink regularly. Campers can also bring their own water bottles with their name on it. The bottles can be refilled as needed throughout the day.
How can I speak with my child's counselor?
A call to the camp office will answer most questions. Since counselors are constantly supervising groups and activities, messages will be taken at the camp office. Please leave your name and evening phone number and the counselor will return your call as soon as possible.
How can I speak with a Camp Director?
The director is available to answer your questions and discuss your concerns, during the day at the Camp Office and most evenings from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on his cell. Please feel free to call during these times or leave a message at the camp office. You can also email [email protected]
Are we obligated to give a tip or gift to our child's counselor?
Tips or gifts are appreciated but not mandatory.
How can I become more involved with Camp Mazal?
Parents involvement in the Camp Mazal Life is always appreciated. Please contact the camp director to see how you can be of assistance.
