CAMP LOCATION

Camp Mazal is located at the Gutnick Mazal Jewish Center, 218 Mirabel Street, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec, H9A 3J5.

Swimming lessons will be given by the Aquatic Association of Dollard-des-Ormeaux at the D.D.O. CIVIC CENTER, 12001 Boul. De Salaberry. Please see details below.

DATES AND TIMES

Camp begins on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 and comes to a close on Friday, Aug 4, 2023. Camp begins every day at 9:00AM and ends at 4:00PM unless otherwise advised by the camp.

Early drop-off and late pick-up is available for a nominal fee. Information for the extended care is available with registration or by calling the camp office.

For those not registered for early drop-off, please drop off your child no earlier than 8:45 a.m. to insure proper supervision.

Campers find it hard to adjust when they come late, and worry when their parents don’t pick them up on time. Please be prompt. Any child left in camp after 4:10 will be charged the late pick-up fee.

If you have to pick up your child during the day or if you have someone else picking up your child from camp, please notify the camp office. We cannot release campers without parental permission.

In addition, any visitors during camp hours must first come to the camp office for visitor registration and assistance.

IMPORTANT NUMBERS
GENERAL PROGRAM

Camp Mazal provides a wide variety of developmentally appropriate activities and games that provide entertainment and education. Activities include sports, arts & crafts, dance, creative games, baking, cooking, Jewish pride, hunts and races, community workers visits, water fun and of course, the most amazing trips! Each activity is designed with creative excitement which engages all participants.

Campers are encouraged to participate in all activities to promote unity in the group. Exceptions are made if an activity is medically not advisable.

Our amazing trips will take place every Monday and Wednesday all day unless otherwise noted.

OUR STAFF

Camp Mazal prides itself on its exceptional staff members, chosen for their personal warmth, sensitivity and care for each child. Counselors have prior camping experience. The camp maintains a low staff camper ratio.

DRESS CODE

Boys are required to wear a kipa or baseball cap at all times.

For safety reasons, it is mandatory and extremely important for all campers to wear their camp T-shirts on trip days.

Each camper will receive one camp T-shirt at the beginning of camp. Additional camp T-shirts are available for $12 each.

DAILY SUPPLIES

Your child should have sunscreen applied every morning before camp and come to camp with a hat. Please send a bathing suit, towel, bathing cap in a swim or plastic bag  every day to camp as we will be having water activities all week besides for Wednesdays or all-day trip days.

Please have all hats, camp T-shirts, schoolbags, lunches, swim gear, etc… clearly labeled with the child’s name, marked in permanent ink or with labels.

LUNCH AND SNACKS

Camp Mazal offers a Snack & Lunch program with healthy and fun food for your child/ren for a small additional charge.

For the children not registered for the Camp Mazal Snack & Lunch Program, please provide your child with a kosher, clearly labeled lunch with food that will remain fresh at room temperature. It is advisable to send extra drinks for trip days or for very hot days.

Camp Mazal will be giving all children plenty of water to drink throughout the day on camp premises.

SWIMMING LESSONS

Swimming Lessons will be given by the Aquatic Association of Dollard-des-Ormeaux at the DDO CIVIC CENTER every Thursday morning. Please drop off your child  at the CIVIC CENTER at 9AM on those days. Camp Mazal Staff will be on hand as of 9AM to take care of the campers. We will return the children to camp premises after their lessons.

Due to the fast of Tish'a B'Av, there will be no swim lessons on July 27, 2023. Drop off will be at camp for that Thursday only.

Please make sure your child/ren has their bathing suit, towel, bathing cap in a swim or plastic bag. Bathing caps are mandatory at the Civic Center. A charge of $8 is applied to every swimmer without one.

There will be staff available on hand with activities for the children that will not be partaking in the swimming lessons.

PERSONAL PROPERTY

Camp cannot take responsibility for personal property brought to camp. Please do no send iPods, cell phones, digital cameras, or any other expensive item to camp.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS AND MEDICATION

If your child has any special challenges, conditions or allergies (i.e. social, behavioral, food) please bring it to our attention. This knowledge will help us care for him/her and maximize his/her camp experience.

All medication to be administered during camp hours must be clearly marked with camper’s name and be provided in its original container. A separate note containing dosage instruction and parent’s signature must be sent as well. Please verbally notify the camp director and the child’s counselor of the medication on those days.

Please feel free to call the camp director to discuss your child’s health situation.

EMERGENCIES

In case of any medical emergency requiring more than basic first aid, the parents/guardians will be immediately notified. If we cannot reach the parents, the emergency contact on file will be notified.

After any incident or injury, parents will be notified. Parents may be asked to pick up their child from camp if the Camp Director deems it necessary.
